When do the courses take place?
There are regular courses between April and October this year. Ring 0845 070 4617 for exact dates.
How much do the courses cost?The cost of the courses is being covered by local businesses, meaning they are FREE to young people.
What do I need to wear on the courses?You just need to wear warm clothing and a pair of trainers – all equipment will be provided on the day.
Are the courses safe?All the courses are supervised by RYA-trained instructors based at Merseysport, and we also require that at least one teacher or support person is present during the course (they are also welcome to get involved with the activities themselves).
How do I get to the watersports centre?The school is responsible for each young person’s transport to and from the venue.
Why sailing and not any other sports?As well as being a lot of fun, sailing is a very educational activity and a fantastic way of making friends and learning new skills outside the classroom.
Do I need to have done any sailing before?No – the course is designed for absolute beginners.
Do I need any special equipment?No – all equipment will be provided.
What if I can’t swim?You have to be able to swim to take the course, and we will require a confirmation letter from all participants’ teachers or guardians.
I don’t live in Merseyside - how do I get on the course?We currently only have facilities in Liverpool. If you can get here you can join in! After 2008, we plan to establish Inner City Sailing centres throughout the UK and further afield. Watch this space!
What if I want to sail again after my course?You can progress on to more advanced stages of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. Inner City Sailing hopes to provide at least one scholarship a year to allow talented young sailors to reach the RYA’s red badge level.
Do I need to bring a packed lunch on the course?You can but refreshments will be provided on the day.

If I want to make a donation, what will my money be spent on?All donations will go on enabling the young people to take the courses for free. All administrative costs are being covered by 7BestInvest.
